Building Infrastructure to Support Kingston's First Baby Formula Facility

Posted on Friday May 04, 2018

Kingston, May 4, 2018- Ontario is partnering with the City of Kingston to improve the infrastructure needed to establish Kingston's first baby formula production facility, which will create up to 277 new jobs in the community.

With support from the Eastern Ontario Development Fund, the municipality will invest in road, water and sewer infrastructure to facilitate construction of a 320,000 square foot infant milk formula processing plant by Canada Royal Milk. Once operational in 2020, the plant will require significant volumes of milk, which will support the growth of Ontario's dairy cow and goat sectors.

Ontario's plan to support care, create opportunity and make life more affordable during this period of rapid economic change includes free prescription drugs for everyone under 25, and 65 or over, through the biggest expansion of medicare in a generation, free tuition for hundreds of thousands of students, a higher minimum wage and better working conditions, and free preschool child care from 2 ½ to kindergarten.
