Kingston Economic Development is implementing a strategy to reposition Kingston as an agri-business centre by focusing on food processing, agtech, and sustainable agriculture. The provincial and federal government are investing in making Ontario globally competitive and Kingston is well positioned for easy market access to U.S. companies.
As Eastern Ontario's urban hub, Kingston has access to an effective transportation system and a well-trained and stable labour force. The city also offers an inventory of industrial properties that are ideally suited for agri-business growth and development.
Kingston is currently home to a number of distribution, manufacturing, and research companies. Local food production is an important aspect of the regional landscape, and many produce and livestock growers thrive in the region.
